Those last few weeks before baby’s arrival are filled with anticipation and excitement, and it’s worth channeling some of your nesting prowess toward packing your hospital bag. Having it ready and waiting sooner than later is better—just in case your eager beaver decides to make an early debut. Nobody wants to be scrambling to find those new nursing bras in the midst of contractions—and you certainly don’t want to arrive at the hospital without your phone charger. (You’re going to need some battery life to snap 1 million photos and blast out the good news!) From the must-have items you’ll be remiss not to bring to the items you frankly just don’t need, consider this your honest, no-fuss guide. So, review the checklist, gather the essentials, and make note of any items that will need to be added last-minute (looking at you, cozy leggings that cannot be survived without the final three weeks of pregnancy). And don’t forget all your favorite silky-soft Solly goodies!

For you:

  • Nursing bras/camis
  • Cozy legging and pj’s. These rib day-to-night pants from Storq are a dream.
  • Grippy socks, slippers, and easy slip-on shoes because no one wants to walk around a hospital barefoot.
  • An extra-long phone charger because the outlets always tend to be surprisingly far away from the bed.
  • Hair ties. These soft silk ones will keep your hair up during labor and are comfy enough to sleep in.
  • A reusable water bottle. The Bink Mama Bottle is the jam.
A few other must-haves include toiletries (don’t forget the dry shampoo!), your glasses/contacts and your favorite pillow(s) from home for extra comfort.

For baby:

  • Going-home outfit. Our sweet sleepers and matching knotted hats make for the perfect pairing. (The pants on the sleepers are high-waisted, specifically to go over the umbilical cord stump.)
  • Sleep gowns for fuss-free diaper changes.
  • 1-2 swaddles for making delicious baby burritos and snapping that perfect announcement photo.
  • Your Solly Wrap! You can wear baby as soon as they are born to immediately facilitate bonding, regulate temperature and heart rate, boost milk supply and more.
You may also want to bring a nursing pillow if you’re planning on breastfeeding or your preferred brand of bottle if you’re planning on bottle-feeding.

Don’t forget these…

  • Your pediatrician’s information. (They’ll ask you for it a lot!).
  • Picture ID and insurance card.
  • Your birth plan, if you have one.
  • An extra bag for all the freebies you’ll be sent home with.

But DO leave these at home (the hospital has you covered):

  • Diapers and wipes
  • Breast pump
  • Feminine pads and products
  • You’ll likely be sent home with a large goodie bag of the above items, so don’t worry about packing them and use that precious space for an extra swaddle or two!
